Candy AI is the best all-round NSFW AI chat app we have used. One companion chats without refusing, remembers earlier sessions, sends photos on request, talks in voice notes and replies with short video clips.

The catch is tokens. The plan price covers text. Photos, voice calls and video spend a monthly allowance of 100 tokens, and heavy use runs through it quickly. If you mainly want text, the yearly plan at $3.99 a month is good value. If you want a lot of photos and video, budget for top-ups.

What it does well

• Everything from one companion. Chat, memory, photos, voice and video come from the same character, so she stays consistent.
• Live Action video. Companions answer with short moving clips, not only a still picture. This is the feature that sets Candy AI apart.
• A detailed character builder. You choose body type, ethnicity, personality, voice and the kind of relationship, in realistic or anime style, or build a custom companion (including AI boyfriends). There is also a large set of ready-made companions.

Where it falls short

• Tokens run out. Photos, voice calls and video all draw from the same 100 tokens a month.
• Building a character costs tokens too. Candy AI's site says the more detailed the companion, the more tokens it uses.
• The best features are paid. Live Action video needs a paid plan.
• The yearly discount does not cover top-ups. Extra token packs cost the same on any plan.
