NSFW AI Chat ("we," "us," or "our") operates nsfw-ai-chat.com (the "Site"), an independent guide to AI companion and NSFW AI chat apps for adults 18 and over. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website and use our services.

By using the Site, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide Directly

Account Information: You do not need an account to browse the Site or to submit an app. If you sign in, for example to manage your listings, write a review, or claim an app, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Name
  • Profile picture, if you sign in with Google

We do not use passwords. You sign in with a one-time link that we email to you, or with your Google account. We also store your sign-in sessions, including when each session expires and the IP address and browser details (user agent) it was started from. If you sign in with Google, we also store the identifiers and tokens Google gives us for your account. If you claim an app, we send a one-time code to an email address on the app's own domain.

App Submissions: When you submit an app for listing, we collect:

  • The app's website address, name, and a one-sentence description
  • The type of app
  • Optional notes that you add
  • Your email address and, if you give it, your first name
  • Your confirmation that the app is for adults 18 and over and that you can submit it
  • Whether you want our newsletter (optional)
  • The address of the page on the app's website that carries the link to the Site, when you verify the link

Your email address, first name, and notes are kept with the app's record and are not shown to other visitors.

Reviews: If you write a review, we store your rating, title, and comment. Reviews are shown on the app's page with your name and profile picture.

Reports and Feedback: If you report an app or send feedback through the Site, we store your email address and your message. For a report, we also store which app it is about and the type of problem you chose.

Communications: When you contact us or subscribe to our newsletter, we collect the information you provide. Newsletter subscribers are stored as contacts with our email provider, Resend. If you tick the newsletter box when you submit an app, we add your email address and first name to the same list.

Information Collected Automatically

Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with our Site:

  • Pages visited, the web address of each page (including any query string), referral sources, and when you leave a page
  • Clicks and similar interactions, including clicks on links to apps, share buttons, and video plays
  • What you type into the search box on the Site
  • Device type, browser, and operating system
  • IP address and approximate location (city/country level)

We collect this with three analytics tools:

  • PostHog records product analytics events, such as page views, page leaves, clicks, searches, and steps in our submission and link verification forms. PostHog also records session replays of your visit, which show the pages you view and how you move, click, and scroll. These events and replays are tied to a random ID stored in your browser. We do not link that ID to your name or email address.
  • Plausible Analytics counts visits, page views, referral sources, and clicks on links to other websites.
  • DataFast counts visits and where they come from.

Requests to PostHog and DataFast pass through our own domain before they reach those services. Every web request carries an IP address, so these services receive yours and can use it to estimate your approximate location.

IP Address and Rate Limiting: We use your IP address to limit how often forms on the Site can be used, such as submissions, newsletter sign-ups, reports, feedback, link checks, and claims. These counts are kept in the server's memory, not in our database.

Third-Party Information

Listed Apps and Their Websites: To build and check listings, we read information from the websites of listed apps. It is about the apps, not about visitors:

  • The page you name when you verify your link. We read it through a page-reading service (browser.linkdr.com) to look for the link to the Site, and we repeat the check once a day while the app is listed.
  • Icons, preview images, and screenshots of the app's website, of which we store copies in our image storage.
  • Public traffic estimates for the app's website, from a third-party data API that we query with the app's website address.

How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

Provide Services:

  • Process and manage app submissions
  • Create and display app listings
  • Check every day that listed apps still link to the Site
  • Send transactional emails (sign-in links, one-time codes, submission confirmations, link check notices, and updates on your listing)

Improve the Site:

  • Analyze usage patterns to enhance user experience
  • Identify and fix technical issues
  • Develop new features based on user behavior

Marketing and Communication:

  • Send newsletters and promotional content (with your consent)
  • Notify you about updates to our services
  • Respond to your inquiries

Legal and Security:

  • Prevent fraud and abuse
  • Enforce our Terms of Service
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Protect our rights and the safety of our users

How We Share Your Information

We do NOT sell your personal information. We may share information with:

Service Providers: Third-party companies that help us operate, including:

  • Resend sends our emails (sign-in links, one-time codes, submission and link check emails) and holds our newsletter list. It receives recipients' email addresses, first names where given, and the content of the emails.
  • PostHog receives product analytics events and session replays, as described above.
  • Plausible Analytics and DataFast receive page views and related visit data, as described above.
  • Cloudflare sits in front of the Site and delivers it. It handles each request to the Site, so it sees technical details such as your IP address.
  • Hetzner hosts the Site. We run it ourselves on Hetzner servers, where the database with account, submission, review, and report data is kept. Images on the Site, such as app icons and screenshots, are stored in Hetzner Object Storage.
  • browser.linkdr.com, a page-reading service, receives the address of the page you name when you verify your link, and the addresses of listed apps' websites for screenshots.
  • A third-party SEO data API (through RapidAPI) receives the website address of a listed app and returns traffic estimates for it.
  • Google receives your sign-in request only if you choose to sign in with Google. Google also provides the small website icon shown next to the address you type into the submit form. Your browser requests it from Google, which receives that address and your IP address.
  • YouTube serves the videos shown on some app pages. The player loads from YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com) only after you click play.

Business Transfers: If we merge with or are acquired by another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or to protect our rights and safety.

Public Information: App listings you submit are displayed publicly on our Site once we publish them, including:

  • App name, icon or logo, and description
  • Website address
  • Screenshots and preview images collected from the app's website
  • Categories and tags
  • Reviews, with the reviewer's name and profile picture
  • Any information you choose to make public

Data Retention

Account Data: We retain your account information as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services.

Submission Data: App listings remain on the Site while the app meets our Terms and keeps the link to the Site in place, or until you ask us to remove them. The details you gave when you submitted the app, including your email address, are kept with the app's record. To have them removed, contact us.

Analytics Data: PostHog, Plausible Analytics, and DataFast keep the data they collect under their own retention settings. The Site does not set a fixed retention period for it.

Deleted Accounts: The Site has no self-service option to delete an account. To delete your account, contact us. Deleting an account also removes its sign-in sessions and its reviews. Details you gave in an app submission are stored with the app, not with your account, so tell us if you want those removed too. Some data may be retained for legal or backup purposes.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.

Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information.

Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal retention requirements).

Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.

Opt-Out: Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in our emails.

Do Not Track: The Site does not respond to "Do Not Track" signals from your browser. PostHog in particular is not set to honor them.

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information:

  • HTTPS encryption for all data transmission
  • Access controls and authentication
  • Secure third-party service providers

However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Our Site contains links to third-party websites (listed apps). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites. Please review their privacy policies before providing personal information.

When you click a link to an app, we record the click (see Usage Data above) and may add a tracking parameter (utm_source, set to our site's name) to the link, so the app can see that you came from us. Some links to apps are affiliate links. If you sign up through one, the app or its affiliate network can see that you came from us, and we may earn a commission.

Children's Privacy

Our Site is for adults 18 years of age and over. It is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have collected information from someone under 18, contact us immediately.

International Users

Our Site is operated in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the US, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the US or other countries. By using the Site, you consent to this transfer.

GDPR Compliance (EU Users): We comply with GDPR requirements, including:

  • Lawful basis for processing (consent, contract, legitimate interest)
